Synopsis
After an unknown narrator contemplates the concept of moving forward, they show that Yumi is trying to apply for a job at the convenience store Noriko works at. She initially tried to avoid it, because of Noriko's attempts to befriend her, but with no other option left and wanting to earn some money, she finally decided to try and get a job there.
When Noriko asks if she intends to apply at her store, Yumi confirms this, though would like to skip the interview and application process since she struggles with both, only for Noriko to hire her on the spot. Yumi wonders if she can just hire her like this, and Noriko explains that she already got the approval of her boss since they need someone for the shifts on weekend mornings, and while she initially intended to recommend Kirin, she decided against it since she got fired for bad behavior at her last job and isn't a serious worker to begin with. Yumi wonders how she can be sure she won't be as bad as Kirin or why she's helping someone who hasn't given her a reason to trust her, but Noriko is confident that Yumi will do a good job, especially with her support, and doesn't need a reason to help her as she just wants to help someone in need and potentially befriend her.
After annoying Yumi with some questions about her outfit, Noriko decides to make her more familiar with the store. She shows her the isles, the cafe machine and the dining area while telling her about the things she needs to do and some of the benefits they enjoy. At some point, Noriko makes another comment about Yumi's top, and she wonders what the rules state about beating up a co-worker, though she won't do it since she needs this job. After some more idle chatter, Noriko decides to step outside to call her sister and asks Yumi to clean the tables and to call her if a customer shows up.
While cleaning the tables, the TV shows a rerun of an episode of the "Untitled Children Show", which causes Yumi to have a flashback about watching the same episode as a child. In the flashback, she already figured out the solution for the task before the contestant did and is waiting impatiently for them to say it. Once the contestant finally gets it right, the moderator asks for the viewer to call them and give them their opinion about the episode, but requests they get their parents' permission first to avoid doing something bad, and Yumi asks her mother for permission. Yuki is out cold, though, and she wonders if the contestant's mother are more attentive than hers.
Back in the present, Yumi watches the episode the same way she did as a kid, but she's more emotionally unstable this time. Noriko returns and notices both the show and Yumi shaking, but when she mentions it, Yumi tries to leave, not caring if she gets fired. Noriko tries to calm her down, even when Yumi threatens her with physical violence, and asks her to take her break.
