Synopsis
While he’s still affected by the memory he saw, Sensei decides to go to Niki. On the way, he receives a message from Maya, who wants to see him on the roof, and agrees to meet her later. The moment he reaches the lobby, Niki confesses how she’s still in love with him and that she doesn’t care that her confession could destroy her career. Sensei thinks that she will regret her decision once she thinks about it rationally, but she can’t think rationally anymore and only wants him back. He tells her that he remembered something after reading her letters and, after he describes what he saw, learns that this was the evening of their first kiss.
Niki is glad that her old letters managed to chip away at his amnesia, but he is disappointed that he only got a fragment of that night. She assures him that they can always make new memories together and asks him again to become her boyfriend. He reminds her that idols can’t date, but she would retire if he accepts her offer. He still thinks that she shouldn’t abandon something she likes doing, though, but she reminds him that she only became an idol to make him jealous and, because that didn’t work, that there’s no reason to pursue her career anymore now that they can start over.
At this point, Maya appears in the lobby and listens to their conversation. Sensei can’t make a decision right now, but Niki intends to wait for him since she thinks that they need each other in their life. Since she gets louder and louder, he recommends her to calm down, but she wants him to stop her with a kiss and, when he doesn’t give her one, initiates one herself as she is tired of waiting. Sensei knows that he wants her but is aware that she wants the Sensei she grew up with and not the one standing in front of her. When they separate, Maya is no longer there.
Niki accepts that they can’t be together yet and intends to wait for him, but demands to know why she has to. He tells her that he can’t be with her until he feels less numb, which she heard from him for years. She also recommends him to get a new shirt since the current one is worn out. Because he won’t go with her, she decides to leave, but tells him that this could’ve been the night she would’ve gone all the way with him. She offers him a picture of what he missed and redacts that offer as she makes her way out of the hotel.
