Osako Osaka is part of the Side Cast of in Lessons In Love. She is Wakana's girlfriend, and a karate instructor at the Dojo.

Background

Osako had a fairly normal life growing up, spending most of her time practicing karate rather than going out with friends or studying for exams. During college, though, she almost entirely abandoned any connections, spending most of her time pining after Wakana. The two eventually started dating, graduated, and moved in together in Kumon-Mi. While she initially planned to pursue a professional career in karate by competing in national tournaments, the city's closure forced her to change plans, securing a job as a karate instructor instead.

Characteristics

While at work, Osako is a generally serious and professional instructor, having little patience for Ayane and Sensei's game. She often yells or silently glares at Sensei for repeatedly attending classes despite having no intention to learn. She also doesn't go easy on her students, readily using her full strength in sparing matches against Ayane and Sensei.

Outside of her work, Osako's a lot more chipper, especially around Wakana, who often makes her blush by referencing their intimacy casually. Osako's love for Wakana and the latter's neurotic and impulsive personality have also caused her to develop a deep insecurity about the stability of their relationship. She often worries that she's not enough for Wakana or that she might suddenly be left behind.

Relationships

Sensei

Sensei and Osako have a friendly relationship, being one of few that the former doesn't try to advance sexually, though he wouldn’t have much of a chance if he tried as Osako has no general interest in men and also no personal interest in him. While Osako often teases and laughs at his inadequacies, such as his lack of physical strength, endurance and "wimpy" appearance, she appreciates his company and his friendship with Wakana. She does, however, feel a bit threatened by how easily he and Wakana seem to get along, often confiding in him about these insecurities. She also frequently reminds him that, if he does try anything with her, she can easily take him down.

Wakana

Wakana is Osako's girlfriend and the two are deeply in love with each other. After meeting Wakana in college, Osako spent nearly all her free time thinking up ways to get closer to her and, eventually, ask her out. This passion continued even after the two began dating, with Osako herself claiming that she spends most of her time with only Wakana. Despite years of being together, Osako continues to harbor some insecurities about their relationship, worrying that Wakana might "wake up" someday and leave her behind. She worries constantly about her girlfriend's safety and tries to do everything she can to make her happy.

Ayane

Ayane is one of Osako's students. The two don't interact on screen much, but Osako seems to like her a lot, especially because of Ayane's dedication and natural talent in karate. She does, however, find Ayane's love for Sensei unnerving and somewhat annoying. She also knows how deep her relationship with him goes, but is surprisingly nonchalant about it.

Memorable Quotes

  • "I guess I just think everything right now is a little too good to be true. And that one day she’ll snap out of what’s been such a happy dream for me and move onto bigger and better things."
  • "Blah blah blah. I’m a weak little bitch who can’t even take one kick from a girl."

Trivia

  • During college, Osako memorized the poem "She Walks in Beauty" by Lord Byron to impress Wakana during her confession.
